Margie Phelps, the daughter of Fred Phelps, reports on Twitter tonight that Westboro Baptist Church will picket Gov. Rick Perry’s “The Response” — a day of prayer and fasting set for Aug. 6 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The Response is of course sponsored by the American Family Association, designated as an anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Westboro Baptist is also listed as an anti-gay hate group by the SPC. So it’s pretty clear that Perry will have to do a better job of uniting homophobic bigots — and build a bigger tent of hate — if he wants to win the GOP presidential nomination.
sick marge can catch an STD and cry–and catch aids and die. i do not say that about many people b/c my brother died of aids in 2002. i hate her and that family that much.
Dear WBC,
We get it, caring little for religion, faith or the bible you claim to preach, we know you’re just doing this for attention. However the people of this fine (but not perfect) nation would ask you do it in a less dumbass manner, spewing hate and disturbing peoples funerals really isn’t cool. So yea you’re welcome to be attention whores, just don’t hurt anyone while doing it.
What are Fred Phelps and the WBC afraid of anyhow? Rainbows? Unicorns? A flaming pink queer apocalypse? I attempted to address this with a portrait of the good reverend on my artist’s blog at https://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/03/fred-phelps-and-westboro-baptist-church.html Drop in and let me know what you think!
This Westboro Baptist Church says they hate the Gay-Community. But, they also hate African Americans, Dr. & Mrs. King, Canada, Sweden, the Fire Department of N.Y., victims of 911, other Christian churches, the pope, Judaism, America, our American troops and the list goes on and on. Many of the groups they despise are specifically named on their hate propaganda, picket signs and their many websites. They not only hate, but wish death on all whom they abhor.
This so-called “church” spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive vulgar language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This is not about protesting, this is about a life of hate. They are not peaceful. They are not a “church.” They go after any thing that can get them in the news. This group will protest anything to get its face on TV or in the news. It is about an old man lost in the darkness of hate, who will put his grandchild in danger to save himself.
These people protest at the funerals of our troops. Do we have a real need to protest at any funeral? Is that a real freedom?
The city of Topeka, the state of Kansas and the U.S. at large, its citizens and their churches, schools and events are all held hostage by this “hate group.”-always at the tax payer’s expense.
Margie’s foul mouth shows just how much of a Christian she is….Christianity has nothing to do with hate, and the only thing this sick, sick spewing of hatred by the WBC has to do with anything, is earning money at the expense of the peace of mind of good, solid citizens of this country. They will earn their comeuppance when they try to enter heaven…..as the dregs at the bottom of the barrel of humanity, they will have a very hard time gaining admittance!
Hey Look! It’s the “Rupture”!
No matter how you feel about the LGBT community, donate $1.00 to the gay charity of your choice in the name of the WBC. You do something good for yourself, you do something good for the gay community, and you piss the WBC off. Triple win and it only costs you a buck. Priceless.
@Angie, i just signed on to tell you i like your post. especially “as the dregs”, etc. @tate, i’m sorry for your loss. it’s a horrible, horrible desease. @margie, grow up and smell the coffee. you live, work and play with gays everytime you leave your house. i suggest you stay inside, so you won’t be offended.
First, let me preface my comments by saying that I am a straight ally to the LGBT community.
The Westboro Baptist Church wig-nuts should remember two very important Bible quotations. I don’t have the Book-Chapter-Verse notation, so if someone else would be so kind as to include it in a follow-up post for me?
Judge not, lest ye be judged.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
The WBC whig-nuts are most certainly judging the people they “protest” against, so one may assume they will be judged even harsher by the G-d whose work they profess to be doing.
No person on this planet, as much as they don’t want to admit it, is without sin. G-d, Jesus, or whoever you believe in must be rolling over in Their grave to think Their name is being used to propagate this venomous hate.
The problem is the media….this so called church is less than 100 people…but they create so much ‘talk’, if the media, including the Dallas voice would just stop publishing any of this, we would never have to hear about and they would eventually stop…
How funny is that! Margie Phelps can’t stand Perry either! LOL Before you know it, we’ll see her at Sue Ellen’s happy hour!
This is awesome. Not one, but two groups of religious bigots will face off in Houston- I can’t wait.
I thought these Westboro douchebag would be sucking Perry 2mm weewee becuase he is against gays as well. Yet again these fuckers hate everybody!.
