Stuart Campbell

Stuart Campbell, a longtime former board member for Equality Texas who currently lives in Austin, has been named executive director of Equality North Carolina.

Campbell, who served on the board of Equality Texas from 2003 to 2009, was active in the fight against the state’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in 2005.

In his new role, he will help lead the fight against a similar amendment that will appear on the ballot in North Carolina in May.

“While we may not be able to change the minds and hearts of everyone in the seven short months leading up to the election in May, I am confident that the majority of fair-minded North Carolinians who oppose this amendment will make their will known and we will prevail,” Campbell said.
