Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore

“If you have cancer, which I believe is a fungus, and we can put a pic line into your body and we’re flushing with, say, salt water, sodium cardonate through that line and flushing out the fungus,” said Nevada state Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore.
The lawmaker’s stupidity is based on research done by an Italian doctor whose medical license was revoked in 2003 and who was later charged with wrongful death. By “sodium cardonate” she probably meant “sodium bicarbonate” or baking soda.
But why let science stand in the way of making laws?
Fiore has proposed what she calls the “terminally ill bill” that would allow people to come to Nevada to get what she calls “alternative treatments” — whether or not they’re proven to kill you. She thinks people would flock to Nevada for medical care like they do for entertainment. That could actually happen if Nevada decided to build world-class research hospitals rather than propose quack treatments.
And cancer is not a fungus, Assemblywoman Fiore.
