Rep. Vito Barbieri

Idaho state Rep. Vito Barbieri wants women to take an oral gynecological exam.
His committee was hearing testimony on doctors prescribing drugs to induce abortion through telemedicine.
“Can this same procedure then be done in a pregnancy?” Barbieri asked. “Swallowing a camera and helping the doctor determine what the situation is?”
Telemedicine refers to video conferencing with a doctor, something that’s occurring more frequently in places like Idaho with large areas of sparse population. It doesn’t involve swallowing cameras.
Laughter erupted in the room when Barbieri was told that pills that are swallowed do not end up in the vagina.
“Fascinating,” Barbieri said. “That makes sense.”
