Robert Moore

When Dallas Voice founder and publisher Robert Moore sold the newspaper two years ago, he began doing what he loves doing most — traveling. And more specifically, traveling by bike whenever possible.
Anyone following his adventures online had to be wondering: How much longer can he keep this up? Well, the answer, apparently, is quite a while.
Vietnam Bike Tours USA has announced on Facebook today that Moore is “Our Man in America.”
Moore began bike riding regularly when he decided to participate in the Lone Star Ride. He combined his love of bike riding with his love of travel and has taken bike trips in Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Spain, Cuba, Lebanon and Canada. Vietnam quickly became one of his favorite travel destinations.
“The people are friendly, the food is amazing and the country is absolutely beautiful,” Moore said in the announcement. “I believe the people who came of age in the ’60s and ’70s still think of the war first. They grew up seeing the war on the news every night and those memories are still with them. For younger people, they are certainly aware of the history, but its just that — history. They see Vietnam as a new and exciting place to explore, not a history lesson.”
The company wrote on Facebook that Moore was one of its first travelers in 2010.
Thinking of taking a trip to Vietnam? What would Moore recommend? The Mekong Delta.
“Life in the delta is different than the rest of Vietnam,” Moore wrote in the announcement. “Riding through the jungle and crossing the rivers on little ferries, seeing the people who live and work on their boats, its all so interesting to me.”
