George Harris and Jack Evans waiting for their license on Friday

Former Dallas voice employee Kris Martin said she is at the Dallas County Records Building waiting for friends to receive their marriage license, but a computer error stopped any licenses from being issued this morning. The computer problem has been corrected and the Dallas County Clerk’s office has resumed issuing them.

“They have been in line for two hours and the Texas computer system was down or being updated and no licenses were being issued,” she said.

She said Judge Dennise Garcia is in Court 303 in the George Allen court building a block away waiting to marry couples. Garcia, who is on vacation this week, came in to perform weddings. She performed the first wedding on Decision Day when she married Jack Evans and George Harris who have been together for 54 years. That wedding has been in newspapers around the world and was shown repeatedly on TV over the weekend.

Martin said as new licenses were issued, people cheered as each couple left the counter.
