To mark the National Day of Service and Remembrance and the anniversary of 9/11, Dallas Stonewall Young Democrats is partnering with Dallas County Young Democrats to host a barbecue this evening to honor local first responders, including police, fire fighters and military personnel. The barbecuse is free for first responders and their families, but a minimum donation of $5 is requested from the general public. The barbecue will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center, at  5150 Mark Trail Way in Dallas. Proceeds will benefit Dallas Fire-Rescue.
In other Stonewall Young Democrats news, the recently formed chapter will be “pulling out all the stops” for a Pre-Pride Extravaganza next Thursday at Station 4. The first 40 people to arrive at the event and join DSYD, or bring a friend who joins DSYD, will receive a free round of drinks. There will also be free Pride gear and a chance to sign up to march in the parade with DSYD. The Pre-Pride Extravaganza will begin at 11 p.m. in the Onyx Room at S4, 3911 Cedar Springs.
