A few weeks ago I chatted with Gregory King, who was working to obtain his MFA in dance at SMU. Instead of a long, written dissertation, he had to produce a dance piece as his thesis. He came up with Spit, a piece in three acts displaying his experience of being both black and gay while tackling homophobia and heterosexism.
He sent me this video of the piece. And yes, he did it all in 11-minutes.
