Ho_Chi_Minh_MausoleumVietnam repealed a law that made same-sex marriage illegal this week.

The previous law fined couples that held a ceremony about $24. The new law allows couples to have a ceremony but still doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage.

So it removed the ban on same-sex marriage but doesn’t allow it, either, making Vietnam more progressive than Texas.

The aim is to reduce discrimination against same-sex couples. They can live together and have some property rights that couples in Texas do not have.
