Donations are pouring in to pay the legal fees for Albert Snyder, including from Fox News talk show host Bill O’Reilly. He said he will pay the entire $16,510 court cost.
Snyder sued Fred Phelps for picketing his son’s funeral. His son, marine lance corporal Matthew Snyder, was killed in Iraq.
After Snyder won in a lower court and was awarded $3 million in damages, Phelps appealed. The appeals court threw out the verdict and Synder was ordered to pay Phelps’ court costs.
Now Snyder is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The high court has agreed to hear the case and arguments that weigh the right of free speech against inflicting intentional harm upon persons who are grieving the death of their children.
Thank you for paying the court costs for Alberta Snyder in the outrageous decision by the U.S. Courts. Even though I disagree with your views on every subject, I commend you for your humanitarianism in this regard.
Mr.O’Reilly I am not in the military but I thank god that there are people out there fighting for my freedom and way of life. I don’t have a lot but sent in the 50.00 that I could but what really made me proud is that my 12 and 13 year old boys noticed and gave 5.00 each of there own money as well. Thank you for paying for Albert Snyder and his legal fees. What is great is that it is not expected nor do you have to, you did it from your heart. Walking the walk of what you feel is right and wrong. I love America; fly our flag every day and it is people like you that make me proud to do so.

I don’t know why they are allowed to use Baptist in their name, but this is an insult to Christians. They are the lowest form of life that there is, maybe God willing they will go along the ways of Jim Jones.

This is my understanding He’s a disbarred lawyer. All his kids are lawyers. They just won a $4 million suit against people who attacked them for picketing. His job is to provoke people to get them into a lawsuit.
I would go to jail forever before I would give Fred Phelps a penny.
