Danica McLeod, speaking into megaphone, with classmate from Santa Fe H.S. speaking outside Sen. Ted Cruz’s office. (David Taffet/Dallas Voice)More than 50 students, parents and teachers from around the state commemorated the second anniversary of the Pulse shootings with a die in outside Sen. Ted Cruz’s Oak Lawn office on Welborn Street.
Among the speakers at the rally were two students from Santa Fe High School. Danica McLeod and her mom were among those gathered. Danica’s brother Kyle was among the eight students killed in the May 18 massacre at the school.
Another speaker was a teen from North McKinney High School. When shooting began, her class led the special needs students into a closet and shielded them. She told the crowd she shouldn’t be told to feel grateful that only one student was murdered in her school.
Cruz’s office refused to meet with the students or allow the Santa Fe students into the office building.
More on this story in Friday’s Dallas Voice.

Oh boy, more of the liberal loons who only want to make sure the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution is done away with. Not on my watch. We see what happened when David Hogg and his minions did a ‘die-in’ at Publix in Florida…the grocery store chain stopped ALL donations to any political organization.
I get so tired of hearing of when somebody shoots and kills innocent people it becomes the problem of the responsible gun owners. If you’re going to do anything, why not push for stronger legislation against the mentally ill to get the help they need…and not responsible gun owners. Perhaps you don’t because it would not serve your agenda.
