Stonewall Democrats of Dallas began its endorsement process for the November elections.

On Thursday night, four candidates for District Clerk made their presentations to the committee. One candidate, Felicia Pitre, had some high level support from her current employer, District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons, and former employer former state Rep. Terri Hodge.

Hodge made an impassioned speech and said Pitre has been active in Democratic politics for years.

Fitzsimmons joked that Hodge is still angry at him for taking her best employee.

Other candidates brought up a $100,000 theft from the County Clerk’s office in 2011. When a Stonewall member asked whether “heads should roll” over that incident, Pitre said an entire office was escorted out of the building as a result.

Those Stonewall members present voted on a recommendation for that office and others. Those endorsements will be reviewed by the board and then referred to the general membership on Jan. 21 for a final vote.
