She said so herself. Famous for this song,Vanessa Carlton made the public announcement during her headlining show at Nashville Pride on Saturday. During the performance, she said, “I’ve never said this before, but I’m a proud bisexual woman.”
What’s even more refreshing is that unlike Chely Wright, Carlton doesn’t have a CD or book coming out to coincide with the announcement. She is, however, working on her fourth album.
Someone is trying to thaw an ice cold career in the name of sexuality…This announcement is no longer shocking. Chely Wright beat you to the punch Miss Carlton. Try again. Check this out for further analysis https://www.weltbranding.com/blog/2010/05/lesbian-twang/
Rich,
In what sense is it “even more refreshing”? Which is not really a question but a response to your obvious cynicism regarding Chely Wright (which others, too, have pointed out, oddly). The huge contribution she is making to humanity and, more specifically, to lgbt people, far surpasses ANY amount of monetary gain she could ever reap. Ought she not profit from her art? If not, perhaps your issue is more w/ capitalism than w/ Chely Wright. Those who have brought up this issue in her regard have singled her out this way as a snide attempt to diminish her– conveniently ignoring the fact of her humanitarian contributions–and are simply using the isue of monetary gain as a cynical smoke-screen. All YOU have to do is figure out why you begrudge her for promoting her art as an expression of herself. My sense of her is that she GIVES far more to others than most people ever do.
