The San Francisco Chronicle today reported that rapper Eminem has come out in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples in his home state of Michigan.
He told the New York Times: “I think if two people love each other, then what the hell? I think that everyone should have the chance to be equally miserable, if they want. It’s the new tolerant me! My overall look on things is a lot more mature than it used to be.”
In years past, Eminem came under fire from LGBT groups for his anti-gay lyrics, and just last year, he got called out for using a derogatory anti-gay term to describe opnely gay singers Clay Aiken, Lance Bass and Adam Lambert in one of his songs.

But this isn’t the first time Eminem has had a brush with tolerance. Way back in 2001, the two raised eyebrows when the performed together at the Grammy Awards, and as recently as January of this year, there was talk of how John had spent the previous 18 months helping his good friend Eminem beat his drug addiction.
Of course, another interesting little twist is that John, who is gay, has said he supports civil unions for same-sex couples, but not marriage.
Elton John, who claimed to be straight for most of his life, then claimed to be gay, then started a long time personal obsession with Eminem, took time off from his Las Vegas lounge show last week to sing at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding for one million dollars. Later he bashed Elvis Costello, Santana, the Pixies and Devendra Banhart and other artists for being activists to end war.
