Earlier this week, Allison Ponthier teased a new song announcement on her socials. Then on Wednesday, she revealed that she will be dropping a video for her brand new track “Character Development” on Friday at midnight. Based in New York (and with, you know, time zones), that means the video is already out here – because midnight Friday is really less than an hour from this post.
A woman of her word, the video dropped right on time.
The deets on the song include her songwriting credit alongside K.Flay and Tommy English who also produced the track with mixing by Rich Costey and Randy Merrill of Sterling Sound.
For the video, Ponthier co-directed the video with Maris Jones.
In her specific sense of style, Ponthier mixes a gorgeous throwback sensibility with a Working Girl author lewk and hair high to heaven (she is Texan after all) creating romance novels at her typewriter. Those come to life only for her to go through a few frogs per se to find a perfect match.
I spoke with Ponthier for this year’s Out North Texas (which she also graces the cover of and is out on stands now) and she spoke about writing new songs for a potential release this year. With a new song already out, perhaps a whole new release is not far off the horizon.
