Police have arrested a 19-year-old man who’s been identified as a “person of interest” in the murder of Brownsville museum director Barry Horn, The Brownsville Herald reports. Ernesto Ivan Martinez previously lived with the 59-year-old Horn and they are believed to have been lovers until a recent falling out, according to Action 4 News (Valley Central.com). Horn was found stabbed to death at his Brownsville home over the weekend, and police say there were signs of a struggle. Horn’s vehicle and other personal items were missing from the home. Martinez was taken into custody on Monday by border patrol officers at the B&M International Bridge. He is currently charged with felony auto theft. Horn was the executive director of the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art, and a scholarship has been established in his name at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, where he worked for many years.
sugar daddy
Pretty sad, glad they caught this little creep. Fry him.
A Houston friend who knew the deceased reports to me that the two were not in fact lovers.
are you sure they were not lovers? does it make a difference if they were or not. is the this little creep going to use the gay panic defense? is he still gay regardless of whether they were lovers nor not??
Yea he was a sugar daddy indeed because no gay man that handsome would lay with something like that without financial compensation! LOL!!
It is good that the police caught the 19 year old and the investigation is under process. If he is found guilty then the actual reason behind the murder should be known. As no one would just murder a person without any reason.
Okay, let’s look at it as if it were a “sugar daddy/rent boy” situation. How does this make it okay for Martinez to kill Horn? How does it justify Martinez murdering Horn? If it was that, then it was that. Both were consenting adults. It doesn’t change the fact that someone has been murdered. That said, why is it that when an older person who happens to be openly gay takes an interest in helping a younger person who has a rough go of it, people always assume they do it because they are interested in having sex with them? That is just blatant BS.
Martinez tried to use Horn’s ATM card without permission. That is theft and a boundary that was crossed. Trust was betrayed and therefore boundaries were set. Boundaries Martinez did not like. Martinez had a history of Breaking and Entering and theft Martinez had stolen various items from Horn’s home and pawned them in Matamoros, MEXICO. Horn had changed the locks the day before the murder.
By expecting a reason because one or both were gay is, in many ways, victim shaming. There is a lot of speculation as to why Horn was murdered but the point is not WHY Martinez murdered Horn but THE FACT THAT Martinez slaughtered Horn in his home because he tried to steal and got caught and kicked out. .
BTW, Martinez mentioned murder before police even mentioned why he was there. He also lied TWICE before coming up with the excuse that Horn had allegedly raped him. His attorneys also tried to argue that he was coerced into giving a confession and that he did not understand or know what he was signing.
