These two happy hounds are Erik (left) and Huracan.  They’re 4-year-old brothers who were surrendered by their owner and would love to stay together in a new home. Erik is the smaller of the two, weighing 35 pounds, while big brother Huracan weighs 48 pounds. Both are super-friendly boys who never meet a stranger and seem to bond instantly with everyone.

Erik, Huracan and many other dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are available for adoption from Dallas Animal Services, 1818 N. Westmoreland at I-30, just minutes west of Downtown Dallas. The shelter is open Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sundays noon-5 p.m.  The regular adoption cost is $85 for dogs and $55 for cats, but discounts are offered for older animals and those in the shelter longer than 45 days, and to senior citizens and those who adopt two animals at the same time. All animals are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Dogs are tested for heartworms, and cats have been tested for FeLV. For more information, visit DallasAnimalServices.org or call 214-671-0249.
