Annise Parker declared victory to an adoring crowd.
Although she did not make an issue of her sexual orientation during the campaign, in her speech, she said, “This election has changed the lives for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.”
The statement received thunderous applause from everyone in the room.
She also introduced her family including her partner of 19 years, Kathy Hubbard.
