With the Senate reconvening this week for the lame-duck session of Congress, it was important for us to be on the ground urging Senator Lugar to do the right thing by supporting the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Just steps from Senator Lugar’s downtown office, we stopped people on their lunch breaks and had them call right then and there. The response from citizens willing to make the call was overwhelming.

It’s easy to make your voice heard on such an important issue. If you haven’t called your Senators and urged them to support repealing this failed law, make sure you do it today by calling the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Remind them to support all of our troops by passing the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” attached to the National Defense Authorization Act in this lame duck session of Congress.

We’ll be taking action across the state to make sure Senator Lugar knows that like our military members and so many others across the country, Hoosiers support repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” If you want to get involved, contact me at Adrian.Matanza@hrc.org.
