The Mexico City Council has just adopted legislation giving legal recognition to same-sex marriage there. The original bill included language prohibiting lesbian and gay couples from adopting but almost immediately afterward, the council approved a councilman’s petition to remove that language and lift that ban.
The new law applies only to Mexico City.
Meanwhile, here in the good ole usa, discrimination as usual.
It should go without saying that a person should be allowed to marry whomever they choose. Until the right-wing, religious fanatics in this country stop trying to control everybody else and force their “morals” down the throat of the country, there can be no real freedom in the United States. I invite you to my web pages devoted to raising awareness on this puritan attack on our freedom: https://freethegods.blogspot.com/2009/06/san-franciscos-gay-pride-parade.html
A quick reply to David Scott: As a gay male and veteran of the U.S. Air Force, (oh, by the way, I joined up when the official Air Force application and duty contract both still had questions about homosexuality on them – the questions were just crossed out by a magic marker) after circling the globe a few times in my 6 years of duty, I realized that there are some things that could be improved upon in the U.S. However, we have things a whole lot better than most of the rest of the world. I am not suggesting that society should quit striving to improve, but considering the time of year and all……..I give thanks for the family, friends, food, and freedoms I have now.
