Adam Medrano

Councilman Adam Medrano

After another attack off Cedar Springs Road this weekend, Councilman Adam Medrano and the Mayor’s LGBT Task Force will hold a community meeting to discuss recent attacks that have taken place in Oak Lawn. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Resource Center, 2701 Reagan St. The meeting is just three days before one of the busiest nights in Oak Lawn — the Halloween street party. Because of limited parking in the area, party-goers may have to park blocks away on Saturday night and possibly walk through poorly-lit streets where they become prime targets.
Officers from the Northwest Police Station that covers the Oak Lawn area will be present at the Wednesday night meeting to provide an update and answer questions.
I received an email from a man who said he was attacked and robbed one block off Cedar Springs and the Tollway after 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. The victim was hit in the back of the head with a blunt object. The assailant had a gun and demanded money. The victim handed him the cash he had, ran and called the police. I’ll have more details when I get through to the victim.
