Lone Star Ride 2010

Lone Star Ride 2010

Lone Star Ride Fighting AIDS, taking advantage of the early spring, has scheduled its first training ride this weekend.

Participants will meet up at Oak Cliff Bicycle Company in the Bishop Arts District on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and ride out at 9 a.m. Two routes are mapped out — a 20-mile and a 40-mile route. The ride will be canceled if the rain continues through the weekend or if the temperature drops below 45 degrees.

The route is described as “mostly flat with some short hills,” but the ride back into Oak Cliff can be tough.

The ride is open to all cyclists, whether or not they are LSRFA participants. The ride is not crew-supported, so bring drinks and snacks.

Group stretching and a safety speech take place before riding. All riders must wear helmets — an LSRFA standard and Dallas city ordinance.

LSRFA also announced its official launch party, set for April 29 from 3–6 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas (rest stop #1, day 2 on last year’s ride).
