Complete applicant qualifications are detailed online here.
LEAGUE Foundation currently has three awards available, and every student application received is reviewed for each of the three. They are
• The Laurel Hester Memorial Scholarship (1 awarded annually), named in honor of the New Jersey police lieutenant who, while dying of cancer, fought for and won the right to leave her pension and other benefits to her partner, Stacie Andree.
• The Matthew Shepard Memorial Scholarship (1 awarded annually), named in memory of the young man killed in a hate crime in Laramie, Wyo., in 1999, whose parents went on to establish a foundation and fight for the federal hate crimes law which is named, partially, in their son’s honor.
• The LEAGUE Foundation Scholarship (typically, 5 awarded annually).
Scholarship proceeds are sent directly to the school the student is attending, rather than to the student.
