Since 1996, LEAGUE Foundation has awarded 113 college scholarships totaling $191,500 to self-identified LGBT graduating U.S. high school students based on the following achievements: a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, significant involvement in community service and acceptance to an accredited U.S. college or university.
The foundation grew from LEAGUE@AT&T, the LGBT employee resource group at AT&T, which was the first corporate LGBT employee group.
The Matthew Shepard Scholarship is a $3,000 award that was given to a student from Portland, Maine. Five $2,000 scholarships were also awarded.
Since its inception, the foundation has received scholarship applications from all 50 states, Washington D.C., the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The fund is supported by LEAGUE@AT&T members and other individual and corporate donors.
