President Obama will sign the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Hate Crime Law in a signing ceremony in the Rose Garden today.
The signing takes place at 2:30 p.m. (1:30 Central time) followed by a reception at 5 p.m. at the White House. Judy, Dennis and Logan Shepard will be at the signing as well as Betty Byrd Boatner and Louvon Harris, James Byrd’s sisters.

This is the first law ever passed that references LGBT. Unfortunately, it send us down the path of being a “protected class” or “minority.” That’s not equality. Equality means “same.”

This definitely NOT the first law ever passed that references LGBT.
You have to include all the laws AGAINST homosexuals, like accomodations, employment, housing, adoption and death claims for loved ones remains. Every time a state or judge refuses to do what is right for ALL people, they are engaging in a negative reference to LGBT. Equality says this law, means everyone has a right to a life that is their own, whether it be choice or genetics that gets them wherever they are. Fighting against gay people, is like Al Quaida wanting to murder anyone who is of a different belief. WE ARE ALL EQUAL.
