Resource CenterResource Center’s senior program Gray Pride meets on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at its main building at 2701 Reagan Street for a strategy session. Gray Pride is the senior group made up of people ages 50+, but anyone interested is welcome.
Program Director Johnny Humphrey said he’d love to get together a committee to plan programming for the group that meets monthly on the third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. He said he’s looking for input from the community about what programming it would be interested in having.
This year’s programs have included a financial planning workshop, hobby groups including tai chi and a horticulture group and senior service providers. The SMU Center for Family Counseling led a musical therapy discussion at one meeting. During the past legislative session, Gray Pride heard an update on bills pending that would affect the community.
Humphrey said he’s looking for ideas for upcoming programs.
He said he’s interested in working with other organizations and groups. One speaker was from the Coalition for Aging LGBT. Gray Pride will be participating in the coalition’s upcoming survey and second summit.
If you have content that would be relevant to the group, contact Humphrey at graypride@myresourcecenter.org.
