OK, we’re the first to acknowledge that the state of Utah does not have an exactly progressive reputation when it comes to sexual liberation. (Unless, of course, you are a religion 74-year-old man with ten teenaged wives.) But actually, Salt Lake City reportedly has a somewhat thriving gay community. (When I interviewed porn star Matthew Rush a few years ago, he said the largest, most enthusiastic personal appearance he ever made was in SLC; go figure.) The city has half a dozen gay and lesbian bars and clubs, a gay-friendly Kimpton Hotel and it near Park City where the annual Sundance Film Festival takes place.
