The Colbert Report and The Daily Show are experts of the “gotcha” interview, making fun of their subjects and often themselves. But the best of these I’ve ever seen aired last night, with special Colbert correspondent Buddy Cole, aka Scott Thompson. Thompson, of course, was the openly gay member of The Kids in the Hall comedy troupe, and his character Buddy Cole — a barfly who throws more shade than the noonday sun — was a standout. He revives it to interview an openly gay U.S. diplomat about the Sochi Games (or as he calls them, “the Sashay Games”). Watch after the jump and laugh your ass off.
