Fort Hood celebrates Pride on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Brigadier General Tammy Smith, U.S. Army deputy chief of staff, is the speaker. A presidential proclamation will be issued.
The poster promoting the event features a quote by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta that begins, “Diversity is one of our greatest strengths.”
The event is open to the public, but according to Irene Andrews, who is covering the event for Dallas Voice, civilians need a pass to get on base. The pass can be obtained at the gate, but allow plenty of time to get the pass.
