I just read on local director Robert L. Camina’s Facebook that his film Martini The Movie won the QBliss GLBTIA Creating Change Community Award – “Outstanding Short Film Award” 2009. The movie stars Steven Jay Crabtree as his famous character, Martini Glass, from his show one-man show, Dysfunctional Divas.
QBliss has been announcing its awards throughout the day today on their Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace sites. Their page says they will then be added to the awards Web site one by one. Perhaps after all have been mentioned. As of right now, their site doesn’t have any of the winners posted yet. This announcement was made, according to the Twitter and Myspace feeds, less than an hour ago (it’s 4:48 now as I write this). Their Facebook, however, isn’t all that updated.

Camina said he is shocked and thrilled especially being that this sounds more than a mere film award. “I am humbled and honored to be nominated and recognized with this GLBTIA Creating Change Community Award. The award honors those who create change in the community, reflecting a positive image, message and promoting inclusion and tolerance. I never made a conscious effort to do all that. It’s just me, and how I live my life. I guess it shows in my films. I love to make people laugh, as laughter is a common language and brings everyone together, no matter our differences,” Camina said. I guess his acceptance speech is taken care of.
QBliss describes itself as “a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer community and life site created to celebrate the diversity of our lives by providing information and to increase awareness, support and effect change in our local, national and international Gay, Lesbian, Transgendered, and Intersexed (GLBTI) community and it’s Allies.”
Camina is now working on a documentary about the Rainbow Lounge raid.siteseo белое
