EXXXotica, the largest event in the USA dedicated to love and sex, has hired an attorney and plans to file an injunction against the city of Dallas in reaction to the Dallas City Council refusing to rent its Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center facility to the group.

After Wednesday’s approval of an unconstitutional resolution by Dallas City Council blocking the EXXXOTICA Expo (https://eXXXoticaExpo.com) for its planned return in May to the city, the news media in Dallas and the nation has been anticipating a suit to be filed by the producers of the nation’s largest event dedicated to love and sex.
EXXXOTICA Dallas, on the recommendation of the Free Speech Coalition, have retained the services of renowned First Amendment attorney, Roger Albright, who is currently preparing to file a preliminary injunction to be decided by a Federal Judge seeking the immediate right for EXXXOTICA to take place as planned at the city-owned Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in May of 2016.
On Wednesday morning Mayor Rawlings and members of the Dallas City Council passed a resolution with a vote of 8 to 7 that directs the City Manager to not enter into a lease with the producers of the expo. During discussion before the vote, both prior to Wednesday and during the proceedings, the City Attorney warned the Mayor and Council that EXXXOTICA was a lawful event, well within its constitutional rights to lease exhibit space, and that the city would most likely be sued and lose, potentially costing the city and taxpayers a large sum.
Despite those warnings, the resolution was passed, with many acknowledging publicly EXXXOTICA was within its legal and constitutional rights, understanding the potential legal ramifications, and still voting to deny EXXXOTICA due to personal, moral or religious beliefs.
Dallas District 1 Councilman, Scott Griggs, posted on Facebook, “Exxxotica ban from City of Dallas facilities in an 8 – 7 vote. Although 15 voted today, a Federal Judge will be the 16th and final vote. The Mayor’s statements about the First Amendment and DPD vice data showing no crimes committed at last year’s event and no associated increase in crime from the event will be used against the City of Dallas. The 16th vote will settle this matter in Federal Court at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to Dallas taxpayers.”
In its suit, EXXXOTICA’s producers will be seeking an immediate and permanent injunction, as well as attorney fees and damages.
“On Wednesday the Dallas City Council acknowledged our First Amendment rights and then voted against them,” Said J. Handy, Director of EXXXOTICA. “We’re going to fight to not only regain our rights, but the rights of the citizens of Dallas.”
