The Sarah Palin event at the Fairmont Hotel on April 30 keeps getting better and better. Just added — conservative talk show host Mike Gallagher will be the “MC.” Mayor Tom Leppert will offer a welcome. And his office wishes I’d stop repeating that.
The evening benefits the non-existent Uptown Women’s Center. The Palin4life Web site no longer claims to be a non-profit organization. We pointed out in our original post that it is not listed as a 501(c)(3) on the IRS Web site.
Uptown Women’s Center still does claim to be a 501(c)(3), although it is not registered with the IRS as a non-profit organization. However, it may be operating under the non-profit status of a downtown anti-abortion organization. I know. They wish I wouldn’t call them that.
Apparently the property they’re threatening to buy on Fairmount Street will be a staging ground for anti-abortion activity in the Oak Lawn area.
Remember, tickets are $10,000 for one, $25,000 for two or $75,000 for four. I like the math. And it’s not a legitimate tax deduction, since they’re not a 501(c)(3), unless they’re having people make the check out to some other organization.
Contact Get Equal and Equality March Texas about any protests planned.
And jot down a note on your hand to make sure to misspell your signs so that people attending the event can read them.
Protest? Now is the time to plant a thought virus. My sign would read “PALIN PERRY 2012”
Yea, heaven forbid us gays have opposing views. I just love how ‘tolerant’ we are to other people’s opinions. And dont pull the ‘Democrats support us’ crap. Just this week, the most liberal state in the country, California, could not get the gay marriage vote back on the ballot. And last time I checked, that ban was passed at the same time that Obama swept the state. Interesting. So, lets do a protest and shout for our ‘rights’. Yea.. that works. And why is wanting to save the lives of innocent unborn babies so controversial? The nerve of these people to want to do that… just EVIL! Get the marches ready!
Exhausting.
Go to the event and enjoy! I believe I’ve given it more coverage than anyone else. So if it’s successful, you’re welcome.
When I read your headline I first thought it said, “Excrement mounting for Palin event.” lol
good one tom p………
@ Jeff Tea Party people are homophobic. Why would be tolerant of people who breed hate. Evil as you say are these Tea Party people who are all white, homophobic, with no solutions besides screaming and hating. You obviously don’t know what their movement is about. It is about limited governement and spending. Nothing to do with abortions, what are you talking about! The only problem is where were they during the Bush years were he drove this country into trillions of dollars in debt? All of sudden we have a black president and they pop up? Obama has done more for the gay community than ANY other President. Of course, so much more needs to improve but at least we are headed in the right direction. Republicans have NEVER done anything positive for the gay community. Please inform yourself about politics, and Tea Party especially, before you are being intolerant of others’ views and accusing them of what you are doing.
Why are we not tolerant?!!! That’s like saying why are you tolerant of the KKK or Westboro Baptist Church!!! What wrong with that guy. Why would be tolerate the hate these Tea Party people are spreading! And our Mayor is giving the welcome?? Whoah…I will remember that when re-election comes along.
……Republicans have NEVER done anything positive for the gay community.
OH YES THEY HAVE !!!
Their behavior has taught us POSITIVELY *NOT* to vote for them…. Yup, I’m positive about that…
Kinda hard tor the IGNORant to overlook the obvious !! As much as they’d like to sweep us under the carpet when nobody’s looking.
I was one of those that protested. Actually, I am a Republican, am pro-Sarah, and am a tea-bagger. I am not pro-Gladney and do not think Sarah should be raising money to help them keep raising money. There were others protesting because feel Sarah knows nothing about adoption. She is not an adoptee and she allowed her daughter to keep her baby that was born outside marriage. Gladney preys on young mothers whose families are not in the same circumstance as Sarah Palin’s. We believe Gladney has a good money maker business and we do not approve of their tactics. They fight every move that the public makes to grant adoptees equal civil rights. Every person should be allowed to have their birth certificate. Where does Gladney get the money to be in the Senate each year fighting for state mandated genetic secrecy? The press won’t cover our protests because they are for equal civil rights, not for politics.
The reason this press did not cover the protest was that no one let us know anyone was going to be out there protesting. And we asked around. A lot. How many showed up? All the protesters from your group or others represented as well?
