Tracy Murphree, Republican candidate for sheriff in Denton County, partially retracted his statement that he would kill a trans person in a bathroom his daughter was using.

“If my little girl is in a public women’s restroom and a man, regardless of how he may identify, goes into the bathroom, he will then identify as a John Doe until he wakes up in whatever hospital he may be taken to,” Murphree wrote on Facebook.
KTVT Channel 11 asked him if he was truly advocating murdering someone who presented no danger.
“I understand how they interpreted it, I understand how they saw it, I understand their anger. For that, I apologize,” said Murphree.
He said he was talking about people who would take advantage of Target’s “new” policy.
“What you’re doing is you’re raising the odds of these predators. You’re giving them a window, you’re giving them an opportunity,” said Murphree.
What Murphree didn’t acknowledge was that he was condoning murder. He also doesn’t understand that Target hasn’t changed its policy. States like North Carolina have. Target was restating their welcome to all their customers. Murphree was taking it upon himself to label trans people as molesters. Like all people of his ilk, he couldn’t name one single case of a trans person attacking a child or a woman — in a bathroom or elsewhere.
However, we’re awaiting sentencing for a straight family man and former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives who has been found guilty of molesting teens over a period of more than a decade. If he becomes sheriff, that’s an example of who he needs to protect us from.
