Adhama
The Dallas Zoo is up for two “Best of” categories in a USAToday readers poll. The zoo, the largest in Texas, is up for Best Zoo and the Simmons Hippo Outpost is up for Best Zoo Exhibit.
The hippos have been in Dallas about a year now. Adhama was born in California and Boipelo is from Albuquerque. When they met, it was love at first site.
Boipelo was a little afraid of the big pool when she first saw it, but when she saw Adhama jump in, she followed him. Earlier this year, she gave birth to a baby, who didn’t survive. The happy couple is trying again.
