A couple’s squabble Sunday evening led to them breaking up and one spending the night in jail for family violence.

Marcus Alan McCree, 24, and his 33-year-old boyfriend were talking around 7 p.m. in the parking lot of The Grapevine Bar, located at 3209 Maple Ave.

McCree’s boyfriend told him he wanted to end their relationship. McCree then allegedly began slapping him in the face, hitting him in the chest and even kicked him in the groin, according to a police report.

The man wasn’t injured and declined medical attention when police arrived.

McCree was arrested for assault family violence and taken to jail.

Other incidents over the weekend included:

• A 39-year-old man was robbed on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of Knight Street around 2 a.m. Saturday. Unknown suspects assaulted him before stealing his cell phone.

• A 63-year-old man was robbed  in his apartment in the 4300 block of Dickason Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspect entered the apartment with a stolen key, displayed a handgun and demanded the man’s wallet, which contained $100, according to a police report.
