The Oscars are on Sunday, and in the gay community, that’s like the Super Bowl (Halftime Show) and World Series rolled in a red carpet. And this year, with a number of gay-themed movies in the running, we decided to present several movie-themed cocktails to prepare during your watching party. And the winners are …
The Redmayne Rouge (inspired by The Danish Girl)
1/2 oz. St.-Germain
1/2 oz. Sparkling rose

Forbidden Love


Making it: Pour the St.-Germain into a chilled flute, and top with bubbly. Float an edible flower or half a strawberry on top and voila! It transforms.
The Forbidden Love (inspired by Carol)
2 oz. Bombay Sapphire gin
1/2 oz. Solano blood orange liqueur
3/4 oz. blood orange juice
1/4 oz. simple syrup
2 strawberries
4 slices of cucumber
Making it: Muddle fruit with syrup in a mixing glass without ice. Add gin and blood orange juice. Pour into a shaker with ice and shake; strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with strawberry and/or cucumber slice.

Spotlight


The Spotlight (inspired by the film Spotlight; created by Andrew Call)
1/2 oz. Soldera sherry
3/4 oz. rosemary simple syrup
1/2 oz. Angostura bitters
1 oz. lime juice
Making it: Combine and shake with ice. Strain into a coupe and top with “creamed wine” (pinot noir, lemon and egg whites).
