The Turtle Creek Chorale board of directors announced today that Justin J. Lombardo has been elected to the post of board chair.

Lombardo is a long-time corporate education executive and higher education administrator. He currently serves as vice president, learning institute and chief learning officer for Children’s Medical Center.

He has been involved in the choral music movement for more than 20 years in Minnesota and Chicago before moving to Dallas. For more than two years, Lombardo has served as a singing member of the Chorale and as a member of the board of directors.

Lombardo has served on not-for-profit boards in education and the arts for the past 20 years. He has served on education boards at regional, national and international levels including a task force on technology and education for a United Nations agency, oversight board for Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, Capella University advisory board for School of Public Service and a Regent for St. John’s University. He currently serves on the editorial board for Media Tec publications a leading publisher on periodicals in the field of training and development.

“For any arts organization to thrive in these tough economic times you need three things: First, excellent artistry. Second, a loyal and growing audience,” he said. “And third, generous philanthropy. The Turtle Creek Chorale is successful with items one and two. Our challenge as an organization is expanding the number three need and developing relationships with people who are generous philanthropists.”

The election of TCC board officers was held at the July 26 meeting. The board of directors is responsible for the financial oversight, strategic planning and leadership direction of the chorus. Lombardo’s role as chair becomes effective immediately.
