Cece Cox has been named executive director of Resource Center Dallas effective July 3, according to a memo to RCD employees obtained by Dallas Voice on Thursday afternoon. Cox, who serves as associate executive director over GLBT programs at the center, will replace former ED Mike McKay, who stepped down last month to take a position with the Peace Corps.
“The Board of Directors has completed its process and Cece accepted the position earlier today,” Board Chairman Reid Ainsworth wrote in the memo. “Cece’s passion and leadership was shining during the interview and will continue to as she leads this amazing organization.”
Cox, a longtime local activist, has headed the Dallas Gay and Lesbian Alliance and the Dallas Chapter of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. She’s also worked in development for the Turtle Creek Chorale, chaired the Lambda Legal Women’s Brunch and served on the board of Black Tie Dinner.
Cox joined the staff of Resource Center Dallas in 2007.
She and her partner, Judge Barbara Houser, are raising a son, Mateo.
