Carson KressleyIt was inevitable someone would suggest it, and it makes sense former Queer Eye style guru Carson Kressley would be the one.

Just in time for the end of New York Fashion Week, Kressley — currently in the off-Broadway show NEWSical the Musical — opined to the Huffington Post that it’s about time for a male version of the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

The magazine’s best seller, on newsstands now, has little to do with sports; it’s just pretty women in revealing bikinis. During a promotional tour, someone suggested major changes are in order.

Kressley suggested SI might not be the ideal forum for a beefcake version, but he said he’d do the styling for free if they get David Beckham to be the cover model.

Of course, this would be great for a mainstream publication. But at the risk of stating the obvious, the gay media has long done men-only swimsuit layouts … including Dallas Voice. But I say, the more the mary-er.
