The jousts at Scarborough Renaissance Festiavl (Tammye Nash/Dallas Voice)

Spring is near, and it’s almost that time again.
It’s almost time for lords and ladies, wenches and wayward jesters, knights and damsels to don their gayest 16th century apparel and head south — all the way to Waxahachie — for the 2016 Scarborough Renaissance Festival.
But if you just can’t get enough of the faire — and if you’re looking a little extra money in your pocket — you might want to consider working at the faire.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival’s Job Faire for part time and seasonal positions at the 2016 festival will be held at the festival’s main office, 2511 FM 66 in Waxahachie, on Saturday, Feb. 27, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Scarby runs for eight weekends — Saturdays and Sundays every weekend, and Monday on Memorial Day weekend, which is the final day of faire — from April 9-May 30. There will also be a Student Day on Tuesday, April 26.
Scarborough Faire is looking for “outgoing, energetic people,” ages 14 and up for the following jobs: food and beverage sales, wait staff, restaurant host/hostess, restaurant/food service managers, alcoholic beverage sales, special event servers, souvenir sales, ticket sales, ticket takers/front entrance greeters, exit gate personnel, safety services, grounds crew, restroom attendants, kitchen help, cooks, dishwashers, exit surveyors, games personnel, and more.
Remember that many positions require costuming.
Get more details and applications online at SRFestival.com. Get your application filled out BEFORE you head in for the interview and take two forms of identification with you (valid driver’s license, ID, passport) to the Job Faire.
Those who are hired will need to attend orientation on Saturday, April 2, at which time specific work hours will be discussed. There will also be a “costume and dialect” class offered prior to orientation to determine costuming and to acclimate employees on the renaissance terminology used at the festival.
