Chief David O. Brown

Chief David O. Brown

Chief David O. Brown announced on the DPDbeat blog that he would move his retirement date up from Oct. 22 to Oct. 4. He said he’ll be taking advantage “of some time sensitive opportunities.”
Though he doesn’t specify what those opportunities might be, could there be a late-term political appointment for him in the Obama administration? No clue, but he deserves it and we’ll ask him when we see him Sunday at the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade, which may be his last public appearance as chief.
Here’s his statement:

Update:

I have moved my retirement date up to October 4, 2016 in order to take advantage of some time sensitive opportunities that have been presented.

I am confident that a strong leadership succession plan is already in place for the department and I feel comfortable in accelerating my departure date.

Again, I want to thank all of the officers of the Dallas Police Department for your hard work and sacrifice that has made my job easier throughout the years.

Thank you and God bless!
