The Barefoot Bestie Labels on the two sample bottles of wine I received say “You are a human rainbow” and “When life gives you rain, you make rainbows.” Also notice the rainbows on each label.

So, I got an unexpected delivery this week from Barefoot Wine. They tried to send it to my office via FedEx, but they had our old office address, so they instead had it delivered to my house. Not sure how they got THAT address, but anyway ….

What I got was two bottles of wine: A Pinot Noir and a Pinot Grigio. What made the bottles special was more than just the wine inside (I don’t drink much wine, but I am told that the Barefoot Wines are pretty good); they also have some pretty cool special labels.

This is what Barefoot Wine says about the labels:

“In celebration of Pride Month, Barefoot Wine, an ally to the LGBTQ since 1988, is launching its “Barefoot Bestie Labels,” allowing wine lovers everywhere to customize Barefoot wine labels for them and their best friends to enjoy. Now through Sept. 8, anyone looking to celebrate their best friend or ‘sole mate [See what they did there? Barefoot Wine – Sole mate] can choose from three varietals — Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio or Rose — to customize their own special rainbow labels through the ‘Barefoot Bestie Labels’ website. Barefoot fans can craft their own special message or select one of six fun complements for their bestie, such as ‘You always leave a little sparkle wherever you go,’ and ‘You’re made of 100 percent best friend material.'”

That’s cool, yeah? But it gets better. For every Barefoot Bestie Label, Barefoot Wines will donate $1 to Outfest, “the leading organization in promoting equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen.” Outfest will use the proceeds to “continue building community by connecting diverse populations to discover, discuss and celebrate stories of LGBTQ lives.”

The company also points out that Barefoot Wines made its first donation to an LGBTQ charity in 1988 and today “proudly sponsors” more than 200 LGBTQ events around the world each year. The company also encourages those who order a Barefoot Bestie Label (or two, or 10) to “share your story with Barefoot by tagging @BarefootWine and using the hashtag #OneStride on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
