Jason Akermanis may be one of the most-touted players in Australian Rules football, but he still isn’t high and mighty enough to get away with making anti-gay comments.
In a recent newspaper article, Akermanis suggested that gay players in the sport should stay closeted because if they come out it “would be too controversial, and would sully the image of such a macho sport,” according to AllHeadlineNews.com.
The remarks earned Akermanis a two-day suspension from his club, the Melbourne-based Western Bulldogs — as well as the anger of fans who reportedly egged his house and car.
How come we never see this type of response when athletes in the U.S. make anti-gay comments?
“How come we never see this type of response when athletes in the U.S. make anti-gay comments?”
Because in the United States, anti-gay citizens are elevated to Christ-like status, instead of being treated like the bigots that they are.
America the Beautiful! Land of the freaks. Home of the homo-haters!
Yay America!!!
Although statistics may demonstrate that Australia is a religious country, the reality is that it is not. Less than 10% of Australians attend church. This is why Australia is now finally saying no to bigotry. So long as their is a reverence for superstition and the false, downright evil so called “morality” of religion; so long as religion holds stature above science in America, bigotry will reign supreme.
America used the bible to condone slavery and racism.
Today America uses the bible to condone bigotry and homophobia.
America needs to get over its superstitious fear of homosexual peoples.
Australia was colonized by criminals.
America was colonized by religious nuts.
Do the math.
