As LifeWalk approaches its 25th anniversary on Oct. 4, 25 people tell stories about what the event means to them.
In 1986, I read an article in the newspaper about the Buddy Project. There was so much fear surrounding AIDS and such a lack of information or misinformation that very few people were willing to risk being seen with someone who was infected, much less actually touching that person.
I guess that’s where I was supposed to be because the stories in the article spoke to me and I knew I was to be a part of a very important journey.
