Sharif Lau Lancaster and Alante Saunders, both 18, have been charged with murder in connection with the death last month of Brian Betts, the popular principal at Shaw Middle School in Washington, D.C.
A third teenager is expected to be charged in connection with the murder.
Maryland county police said the teens apparently connected with Betts through a gay sex chat line and set up a time to meet him. Police said the teens apparently deliberately used the chat line to find someone to rob, and that Betts had not known any of the three prior to connecting with them through the chat line.
Police said they identified the suspects through fingerprints inside Betts’ home and his stolen SUV, and receipts from his credit cards, which were used by Lancaster, Saunders and Lancaster’s mother.
