Skylar Diggins-Smith scored 17 points in the Wings’ game Tuesday night against the Lynx in Minnesota,

The Dallas Wings welcome the league-leading Los Angeles Sparks (9-2) to College Park Center tonight, with tip-off at 7 p.m. It is also African-American Heritage Night, and as with every Friday night home game, it’s Free Throw Friday, when any child 12 and under can come on to the court after the game to shoot a free throw.

The Wings, at 5-5, are in 6th place in the WNBA, sliding one spot after their loss on Tuesday night, June 19, to the Lynx in Minnesota. After falling behind in the first quarter, 31-20, despite center Liz Cambage’s 12-point opening period, the Wings ended the half behind 51-36 and trailed even further at the end of the third, 76-58.

Dallas stormed back in the fourth quarter, outscoring Minnesota 25-15, and were just four points behind with 90 seconds left on the clock. But the Lynx held on for a 91-83 win.

Skylar Diggins-Smith continued her outstanding play, leading Dallas with 17 points and 7 assists. Cambage was close behind with 16 points, 9 rebounds and a career-high 5 assists.

Kayla Thornton led the Wings off the bench with 12 points on 5-for-7 from the field, including 2-for-4 from long range. Azurá Stevens scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds, while Aerial Powers recorded eight points and four rebounds.

Dallas plays at home again Sunday with a 3 p.m. face-off against the Seattle Storm, who are in third place in the league with a 8-4 record. They head to Los Angeles for a rematch with the Sparks on Tuesday, June 26, and then its on to Las Vegas the very next night to play the Aces, who fell to the Wings in Arlington last Friday, June 15, in Dallas’ Pride Night game.
