Bravo announced that Michaele Salahi, the White House state dinner gate-crasher, will be one of the “Real Housewives of D.C.”
The Salahis arrived at the White House in a Hummer with camera rolling. Directly in front of them were Kate Clinton and Urvishi Vaid.
I interviewed Clinton before the Creating Change conference that was held in Dallas in February.
The state dinner was in honor of the Indian prime minister. Vaid was born in India.
Clinton said they got in the receiving line. Vaid, the former executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, shook President Obama’s hand first.
Vaid said, “We appreciate what you are trying to do for the LGBT community, but you’ve got to be harder on the Republicans.”
Clinton said she felt like falling through a hole in the floor. Did she just tell the president what to do?
When Clinton shook the president’s hand, all she could think to say was, “That’s my wife.”
But her embarrassment ended when she heard what the Salahis said.
“We just got back from India and the shopping was fabulous,” Mrs. Salahi told the president. Clinton said Obama looked at Salahi like she was a complete moron.
“When we looked at how intertwined Michaele is in the series, the conversation really became, do we do this show, or do we not do this show?” Andy Cohen, Bravo’s senior vice president for original programming and development, told the New York Times.
When I spoke to Clinton, she wondered why the couple had not been arrested for trespassing and threatening the life of the president. Now they’ve been rewarded with a TV show.
