HOTN12- 2

Summer is usually pretty slow in Dallas, probably because it’s so hot. But heat wasn’t an issue this week, with four straight days of rain. So you should feel plenty energized to get some stuff done!

Lesbian girl groups are in abundance this week, with Brazil’s CSS performing at the House of Blues on Friday in support of their album Planta. And you can make it a weekend of chick rock with Big Bad Gina, performing in Fort Worth on Saturday.

Lovely Uranus isn’t a lesbian, she’s a drag queen — the best third-rate drag queen in Texas. Lovely is back in another campy play from MBS ProductionsForever Lovely, at the Stone Cottage Theatre in Addison. It’s sure to be a hoot (and there’s a naked fella in it!) It’s playing weekends through Aug. 10.

You can seen another drag queen — in fact, Drag Racer Carmen Carrera — at Joe’s/The Brick on Friday night at 10. Shantee, she can stay, at least until she has to sashay away.

If you care to try your luck, In the Heat of the Night — the annual party with a casino theme, pictured — will be raising money for the Legal Hospice of Texas on Saturday at the Dallas Contemporary.

There’s some other ways you can do your part for charity, too. Gaybingo is back at the Rose Room Saturday evening, kicking off its 13th year of raising money for Resource Center Dallas. Fox 4 reporter Steve Noviello will be the special guest. And on Thursday, you can get a sneak peek at the 2013 Black Tie Dinner — and even buy your raffle ticket early — with a preview event at 7 Senses.

And if you wanna donate some money to get in on the ground floor of an investment, Dallasite Nick Tseng, co-inventor of clever Kitchen Safe, has his Kickstarter campaign up until Saturday. You can contribute here.

Finally, if it’s still too hot out for ya, this is a pretty good week to catch up on some new movies, as both Pedro Almodovar’s new farce, I’m So Excited, and the heart-stopping horror film The Conjuring open. And even the comedy Girl Most Likely features Glee‘s Darren Criss!
