When I heard that Dallas-based singer Brandon Hilton’s newest single was titled “Set Fire to the Night,” I tweeted him asking what would Adele say about it since she has her song “Set Fire to the Rain.” With a confident bravado, he quickly tweeted back:
That was back in December. It was kind of funny, but also significant of Hilton’s self-assurance. Like him or not, Hilton is relentless in his drive to be a viable pop star and his new video released this week proves he’s trying to step up his game. It may not have the slick production value of a major artist, but there is a sense of graduation as he attempts to say something here — or just get your attention. And the visual effects, while not big budget, do make a memorable impression.
But the party beat and slashed to hell editing makes the video work for me. Although I do wish he had followed up with that big smack in the beginning of the video. What happened to that bully? Did he get his? A bunch of different images and looks override the opening and we’re left hanging. Don’t forget the story, Hilton.
Watch the video after the jump.
I was only kidding with that tweet, lol.. but I am very proud of this track, it was a little something different for me.
and here’s the scoop on the storyline, we actually had a complete storyline planned out for the video, it was supposed to break down into another mini-movie during the breakdown and then again at the end but it fell through when people backed out, we couldnt get the house again cuz they were out of town and so many scheduling conflicts, we only had three days to shoot everything.. It was crazy, plus I was directing it while also being in front of the camera which was super complicated. It was a lot of work, I made all of the costumes I wear, I just wanted this one to be much more than epic than my past video’s. I think it came out pretty great all considering, we did our best. Its nice to see people saying such nice things about it, I mean its getting hate too, but its mostly anti-gay comments from ignorant people, so that doesnt really bother me.
Thanks so much for posting it, love you guys!

From the abusive lover (bully) to Brandon taking control (driving the car) & telling him “I’ll teach you a thing or two” to the “feeling out of control and crazy” scene…LOVE this video, song, and message. Something many of us can relate to in our lives at one time or another. Love that there’s opportunity left at end if he wants to continue with Part 2, too! And oh my gosh, what I’d do to be in a Brandon Hilton music video! Love him so much! Rock on, Beautifully Handsome…Keep on Keepin’ on!
I really love All Brandon’s Work + songs + projects and I feel really proud to share his work here In Brazil too…
I know exactly how he feels about his dream, I’m sure he’s gonna get it someday.
I loved everything about SFTTN, it was a big music video, but I can’t forget that Glamour Zombie will be the best anytime to me… There’s no way to tell how much I love that song…
Congratulations, Brandon…
You’re growing up like an artist everyday more… And I’m really proud about you and happy to see you growing up like one…
You reply all your fans and friends… And that’s what means the word “Artist”.
