Donnell Jetters of Waco was charged with aggravated assault — family violence. He has bonded out of jail.

Police in Waco arrested 47-year-old Donnell Jetters after Jetters allegedly fired a pistol at a family member who had come out as gay, according to reports by KWTX.

The Waco TV/radio station said that, according to an arrest affidavit, Jetters and the unnamed family member got into an argument on March 14, after the family member came out as gay.

The family member told police he fled the residence in the 9400 block of Centennial Drive when he heard Jetters cocking a gun.

Police said Jetters fired the pistol at the relative as the relative was speeding away in a vehicle. Jetters told police he had fired the gun into the air, but investigators said that the only thing that kept the bullet from hitting the relative was the metal between the trunk and the driver’s seat.

Police also said they found a spent shell casing in front of the house and a Taurus 9mm handgun inside the residence.

Jetters was arrested and jailed on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence but has bonded out of jail, according to KWTX.
